About
Dubbed the “Guitar Poet,” Brian Gore writes songs where fingerstyle guitar and lyrics carry equal weight. His live shows include a 6-string harp guitar, foot drums and bongos. He's a one-man band where every beat serves the story, never the spectacle.
Gore treats songwriting as an auger, a tool for drilling down to personal insight and a wider understanding of the world. The result is narrative-driven indie folk that lays bare vulnerability and quiet longing, and issues a call to action, both personal and political.
He honed his craft in San Francisco during the fingerstyle heyday of Windham Hill and Michael Hedges, adopting multiple capos, slapping, tapping and percussion early on. His pristine guitar playing, raw, husky vocals and introspective lyrics make him one of a kind.
Based in Portland, Oregon, since 2019, Gore took his album Seek the Love You're Yearning to the Top 10 on the Roots Music Report's Oregon chart. It also reached the national Top 40 on its Alternative Folk charts. He has been interviewed on OPB's Think Out Loud and featured on KQED, KALW, KPIG and the nationally syndicated Echoes.
